It's finally happening. Saying goodbye to my family and friends was hard, but quickly after the excitement kicked in. After an eight hour flight I landed together with 8 other Dutch exchange students in Newark airport. We were the one of the first ones to arrive so we had a little bit of time to get to know each other until the next day when our program officially started. The first day we went to a tour around Upper Manhattan. The tourguide was really funny and she knew a lot of fun spots to show us.

We went to a lot of different places and I couldn't believe how big all the buildings were. We had dinner at Planet Hollywood and after that we had some time to explore Times Square.

The second day we went to tour Lower Manhattan. We rode through a lot of districts such as 'chinatown' and 'Soho'. We later got to see the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. But the highlight was the boat tour around New york at the end of the day. It was beautifull to see New York all lit up and ofcourse it was really cool to see the Statue of Liberty up close.

And then it was time to say goodbye again. It was weird to say goodbye to my new friends. We only knew each other for a few days, but we had a lot of fun together in New York. I couldn't wait to meet my hostfamily and I couldn't wish for a warmer welcome. They picked me up from the airport and we drove home to meet all the animals. And when I say 'all' the animals I mean the have a LOT of animals. 6 dogs, 4 cats, 2 birds, a lot of chickens, goats and geese . Oh and a horse. Yesterday we had a naming ceremony where Native Americans got their native name. It was really interesting to see and I am greatfull that I got to be part of that experience. Tomorrow we are going to pick up the other exchange student that is going to live with us for a few weeks. I can't wait to meet new people and I never thought I would say this but i'm excited to go to school in a few days. I will keep you updated!
