We had a staff day on Monday so me and some friends thought it would be fun to have a sleepover. We watched the movie ´Adrift´ and we made some ´puppy chow´. It is basically cereal coated in peanut butter and chocolate and then covered in powdered sugar. It was DELICIOUS. Monday morning I woke up to some delicous american pancakes. After we all had some time to relax, Caroline and me decided to go into Topeka.

We went to PT´s coffee company. It is a cute little coffee shop in the College area of Topeka. I had a latte with almond milk. I spared the barista my actual name because I know he couldn´t pronounce it, so I just said my name was kate. He thought it was cool I was from a different country and started naming all the different Dutch famous people he knew. It was a pretty hilarious conversation.

After the coffee we drove around town and she showed me a lot. We went to a music shop and afterwards got chipotle. Which is my favorite American foodchain so far.
On Wednesday I went with my hostfamily to my first ASL (American Sign Language) lesson. It is held in a church in Topeka. It was such a cool and different experience and there was a very positive atmosphere. Everyone there was ready to learn and that really motivated me to pay extra attention. I can now count to ten in sign language and sign the different colors.

On Friday I had another SADD (students against destructive decisions) meeting. We are planning to give the elementary school candy for Halloween with a motivational saying. Such as 'say boo to drugs'. I finished the day with creative writing class. We have to make a portfolio of our poems and other pieces we made so far. This is a calligram I made from the song 'Sunflower'.

This weekend I got to talk to a lot of my friends and family. It was nice catching up with them, because it felt like I hadn't talked to them for a while.
